Nashville and Austin have this thing going where they both claim to be the live music capital of these here united states. There’s a slight difference in the phrasing, but it’s pretty much saying the same thing. They both make good claims, there’s a lot of music growing in each city, but neither can say they’re the undisputed champion. There’s got to be some room in there for argument on behalf of New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York City, and the like. Regardless, what happens when a band from Nashville plays live inside of a van on Austin? Is that a federal law issue? Interstate commerce or something? Nah, it’s just heady.
